Summer Peace Project Day 4

This was the final day of our Summer Peace Project.  With the hard work and dedication of our religous leaders and all our volunteers, parents and children we were able to build our peaceful communities. Children along with their leaders completed their projects. It was so exciting to see the final work of art that was displayed by each group. Children and volunteers personalised their shirts with their handprints. Children enjoyed playing games outside and looked forward to the Block party in the evening.

Summer Peace Project Day 3

Children, youth and adult leaders worked together as they continue to build their peaceful neighborhoods with the Community Center, Daycare, Peace International Airport,  Tower Mall, Pizza Hut, McDonalds, Police Station, Mart mart and Peace apartments. We also had the opportunity to listen to two community helpers, A Librarian and a Police Officer. Children had a good time and enjoyed the day.

Summer Peace Project – Day 2

Day 2 of our Summer Peace Project. Children continued to work together to construct their community buildings. They listened to each others ideas and plans to accomplish their projects. They enjoyed music and dancing. They relaxed their minds and bodies through meditation. It was a wonderful experience to see the children work together building a community with peace and harmony.

Summer Peace Project Day 1 – Building Community

Our Interfaith Summer Children’s Program took place Aug. 14 – 17. We explored what it means to “love our neighbor”. Using a program developed by the producers of “Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood”, children ages 5 (completed kindergarten) to 12  created their own neighborhood and learnt what it means to build community together. This program was sponsored by St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Old Bergen Church, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Christ United Methodist Church, the Islamic Center of Jersey City, Church of the Incarnation, St. Aedan’s Roman Catholic Church, and Temple Beth El. The program took place at Old Bergen Church, Jersey City.

World Communion Sunday

The first Sunday in October is celebrated as World Communion Sunday.United Methodist congregations join many Christian churches across the globe in celebrating this day. We celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion and as we receive the bread and cup, we remember that we are part of the Church Universal, united in Christ across time and space.

Vacation Bible School

Surf’s Up! All children ages 3 to 14 are invited to join us at Christ United Methodist Church for our Vacation Bible School

Our Theme :  Surf Shack : Catch the wave of God’s amazing Love           June 27 to July 1, 2016 ,   9:00 AM to  1: 00 PM ( Four hours a day Monday to Friday)

At Surf Shack, children will discover an interactive, energizing, Bible-based program that will give them an opportunity to ride the waves with God. During Vacation Bible School at Surf Shack: Catch the Wave of God’s Amazing Love, children and youth will become Surfers and explore how to serve God and experience God’s amazing presence in their lives.

After a high-energy Opening Assembly at the Surf Shack, the Surfers make their way to the Story Deck to discover amazing Bible lessons. Interactive Bible lessons are highlighted by Wave Words to help them recognize where God is inviting them to participate in God’s ongoing creation, and your Surfers will discover Pop-Up Verses (Bible memory verses) that will remain with them in their faith long after VBS.

The students will expand on what they’ve discovered by participating in a variety of activities: making their own art projects at the Craft Hut, singing new music at Tidal Tunes, participating in recreational activities at the Recreation Station, exploring science activities at Discovery Dunes, and enjoying tasty Shack Snacks. Along the way, the Surfers will hear about our mission project and enjoy being active.

God of hope be with us in our Advent journey
God of hope
be with us in our Advent journey

“God of hope, who brought love into this world,
be the love that dwells between us.
God of hope, who brought peace into this world,
be the peace that dwells between us.
God of hope, who brought joy into this world,
be the joy that dwells between us.
always, and particularly this Advent time.”
